This is a new program for writers in the early stage of their career and craft who are looking for dramaturgical support on their plays, accountability, and an artistic community.
The Playwrights’ Pen follows the same model as our PlayGym Forums, but offers a longer-term process for more opportunity for development on the plays, more learning, and more artistic exchange.
How it Works:
This is a 12-week program that meets once per week.
It is limited to 6 writers, each working on a full-length play in-process.
Each week, three writers will present a twenty-minute excerpt from their full-length play-in-process, and receive dramaturgically-guided feedback from a professional dramaturg and their fellow writers.
Each writer will present every other week, leaving ample time for revision and generation of new material. Each writer will present a total of 6 times throughout the course of the program.
Professional actors will be brought in to read the work and participate as responders to the work.
This program is offered virtually and open to artists residing outside of New Jersey.
